a gray world series

A gray world is a series of artwork that was originally intended to be only one individual piece. The initial idea was a place or state of mind that was gray in every sense of the word. Most of my artwork is very brightly colored and cartoonish, so this was more or less a study in black and white.

When I created the second piece, I introduced one image or "character" that was in color. The red figure represented hope in an otherwise gray world. It became a recurring image in the subsequent pieces, but not in color on the fourth installment, possibly inadvertently indicating a loss of hope and wilting away.

Part 5 was a much larger piece with a brighter "blossom" of hope. More in this series to come...
